Belper Station Improvements

Over the weekend of 11/12th January , the waiting shelter adjacent to the ticket machine on Platform 2 has been removed.
This is to be enable the ticket machine to be rotated so it can be used more easily – it currently faces into the sun.  A new large shelter will be installed within which the ticket machine will be located.
Upon completion the other waiting shelter will be removed from Platform 2.  The waiting shelter on Platform 1 will also be replaced.  New seating will also be installed.

As part of the project on Platform 2 NetworkRail will be carrying out works to the collapsed retaining wall.
Work to stabilise the banking will be carried out and this will enable this area to then be looked after by the volunteers from Transition Belper.
The Community Rail Partnership has obtained some grant funding to assist with these works as part of the overall improvement to facilities.
Once competed some of this funding will be used to plant up the improved area.

Progress in Mid February...open to the elements !!
September - Shelters now installed - retaining wall is still WIP ..........!

Rumours that Hadrian and 2 legions are being recalled from the Borders following Scottish Independence vote to speed up progress to completion cannot be
 confirmed!
   November - nearly finished ??
Work was eventually completed  by January 2015 - one year on.
However more serious changes may be required  in a few years time?
