13 Aug 2011 - Wingfield Railway Group model rail exhibition at Cromford

The Wingfield Railway Group are staging a model railway exhibition at the Gothic Warehouse, Cromford Mill (only 10 minutes walk from Cromford Station) in conjunction with the Arkwright Society, from Tuesday 9th August to Monday 29th August. The exhibition is open daily 11am to 4pm EXCEPT Mondays apart from Bank Holiday Monday 29 August. Admission is free in return for donations to the Special Care Baby Units of Sheffield and Chesterfield hospitals. There are three layouts on display: Wingfield Junction, Mettesford & Kirkby on Furness. Phototographs with kind permission of the Wingfield Railway Group modellers.
  Wingfield Junction by David Down & Geoff Barker is an 'OO' Gauge (4 mm) scale model based on a fictitious cross-country route set in the North Midlands in the 1960s.
Mettesford by David Down is an 'N' Gauge (2mm) layout based on Matlock on the Midland Railway's main line through the Peak District. The time period is from 1945 to 1965.  
Kirkby on Furness is a branch line terminus in the Furness area of Cumbria, set in the period 1909 to 1920. The station plan is based on Coniston on the branch from Foxfield.
