3 May 2011 - Peak Rail Reconnects at Matlock


PW staff can be seen putting the finishing touches to the connection between Peak Rail and National Rail. The current Peak Rail Matlock Riverside station is behind the works train at the right. Read more details in the Matlock Mercury article.  
  The Peak Rail connection leads onto the loop laid north of Matlock town station as part of the Sainsbury's and Ring Road development. Steam will return to the Derwent Valley and traverse the new connection on May 22nd when the Peak Forester Railtour from London Kings Cross to Rowsley visits (Tour subsequently cancelled)

                    LATEST UPDATE

By 27th May, contractors working for Peak Rail had laid & ballasted track alongside the disused platform and cleared vegetation in preparation for raising the platform to the required height.
