18 February 2011 - Prince Charles visits Cromford

Prince Charles visited Cromford Station on Friday 18th February to see the two award-winning restoration projects - the main station buildings by the Arkwright Society, and the upside waiting room which privately funded & managed. You can read more details of the visit in the Matlock Mercury article here
Prince Charles meets Alastair Morley, Transport Partnership Officer, Derwent Valley Community Rail Partnership, with Councillor Lewis Rose, Leader of Derbyshire Dales District Council looking on.

Also meeting the Prince are Robin Lumb (left), FDVL Committee member and Trevor Griffin (centre), FDVL member & chairman of a number of projects in the Derwent Valley.
Floodlighting was laid on for the visit as the Prince arrived at 5.30pm and left at 6.30pm, it was dark through out!  This provided this attractive night-time floodlit view of the attractive upside station waiting room.

Network Rail and East Midlands Trains worked closely before hand to prepare for the visit. A crack clean-up squad cleared away illegally dumped rubbish, removed unsightly weeds from the track and spruced up the paintwork at the Grade II listed station.
