Meeting with local MPs:

21st August - Patrick McLoughlin MP
8th October - Pauline Latham, MP and Nigel Mills MP

Members of the FDVL Committee met with Patrick McLoughlin MP for Derbyshire Dales on 21 August to brief him on recent developments on the Derwent Valley Line and discuss present concerns and issues. Items raised included the future of the Community Rail Partnership, service improvements to reduce overcrowding and projects to regenerate station buildings on the line. As a result of the meeting, Patrick McLoughlin raised FDVL's concerns with the Minister of State for Transport & received a reply from Theresa Villiers. Details of her reply & Patrick's letter back to FDVL can be found here
  Subsequent to the August meeting, members of our commitee held a similar briefing session on 8th October with Pauline Latham, MP for Mid Derbyshire (left) and Nigel Mills, MP for Amber Valley (right), here shown with Ernie Marchant (left centre) and David Rayner (right centre) of FDVL. Specifically we raised FDVL's desire to see more main-line services call at Belper to relieve overcrowding on local Matlock services in the peak, and provide more journey opportunities to Chesterfield and Sheffield.
