|The Derwent Valley Line success story continues with even more passengers using the service in the last 12 months.
Derwent Valley Community Rail Partnership (DVLCRP) have released figures covering the 12 months to 31 March 2011 showing a 13% increase in passenger journeys at local stations on the line compared to 2009/10. This continued increase in passenger journeys, building on the substantial growth of recent years, means that there has been a 94% increase in passengers during the last 3 years. Passenger journeys having more than doubled in 3 years at Ambergate, Belper, Duffield and Matlock Bath.
This significant growth in passenger journeys has followed the success of the hourly train service between Matlock, Derby and Nottingham that was introduced in December 2008. The last 12 months has also seen continued increase in the number of trains running to time with an annual average of 93% of trains on time.
