10 Feb 09 - Open Meeting at the Brunswick

FDVL members had the opportunity to hear East Midlands Trains' John Hillman (Stakeholder Development Manager) & Karen Miller (Derby Station Manager), plus Neil Barthorpe, Account Manager Community Rail, Network Rail at the open meeting.

John Hillman reported on the performance figures for period 11 which showed a significant improvement on the comparable figure for last year. The performance dropped slightly in period 12, but was still good considering the weather conditions

Passenger growth figures for the line since the introduction of the hourly timetable are promising, with a 20% increase in originating traffic and 26% increase in traffic destined to the line. EMT recognize the the London connections at Derby are poor and are looking at what changes can be made (but not in the timescale of the May 2009 timetable)

Karen Miller gave an update on progress with the Derby Station canopies. The scheme is running about 12 weeks late, steelwork is now being erected on platforms 4a-6a, then work will start on the final phase on platforms 1a-3a.

Neil Barthorpe reported on the infrastructure improvements which have taken place at Matlock & Cromford, plus future work planned for 2012 at Matlock Bath and Whatstandwell

sm_156406Bel300608.jpg A comprehensive range of questions was fielded including:

Punctuality of the 0737 Matlock-Nottingham - John Hillman described plans to improve the running of this service from Derby and achieve an earlier arrival in Nottingham at 0849.

The skip-stopping of Whatstandwell & Cromford - Unfortunately EMT are not budging on this one for the May timetable, but will keep the issue under review

Revenue protection, the unreliability of ticket machines & plans for barriers at Derby station

Volunteer work schemes - updated arrangements for voluntary groups such as FDVL to carry out work on Network Rail non-operational and and East Midlands stations

Full details of these & other questions can be found in the February meeting minutes - see Documents -> Ordinary Meetings
