1 Nov 08 - World Heritage Discovery Days Guided Walk

Two dozen walkers turned up at Cromford Station on Saturday 1st November to take  part in the guided walk led by FDVL to Matlock. Arrangements were made with Willersley Castle for their riverside gate to be specially opened, to enable the group to follow the path alongside the River Derwent to Matlock Bath

A number of the group elected for the shorter option & finished their walk in Matlock Bath, while the rest followed the steep climb up behind the cable-car station to the top of High Tor.

Here we were rewarded by the appearance of the sun & views over the limstone crags into the Derwent Valley & across to Riber Castle.

After photo stops, the group descended towards the attractions of Matlock, and the return train journey to Cromford. We plan to repeat this popular walk in 2009.
