Ian Ambrose, Chairman of Friends of the Derwent Valley Line (above right) presenting Paul Burnage, former Route Manager for the Derwent Valley Line with a certificate recognising his services to the Derby-Matlock line. In a later reply by email, Paul, who is moving on to a post in Chiltern Railways, conveyed his sincere thanks & appreciation to all those in FDVL. He acknowledged the huge support from FDVL and colleagues in the industry in improving the service immensely and changing the way people thought about the Derwent Valley route. He will proudly display the certificate on the wall of his new office in Marylebone.

Following the presentation to Paul, John Hillman, EMT Stakeholder Development Manager and Claire Ansley, the new Route Manager covering the Derwent Valley line answered questions. Topics covered included the Derby Station rebuilding, Bradway Tunnel (near Chesterfield) works, planned bridge strengthening on the Matlock line, connectional policy at Derby, station adoption, performance & customer information.
