24 Nov 09 - Belper & Duffield to become Penalty Fares Stations from 7th December

Customers using these stations need to be aware of East Midlands Trains plans & avoid getting caught out by penalties when the scheme is introduced from 7th December.

Those travelling from Belper should purchase a ticket from the machine located on the Derby-bound platform.

Duffield currently has no ticket machine, but we understand from East Midlands Trains that they will be installing a 'Permit to Travel' machine before 7th December.  This allows a small amount to be paid to purchase a permit to travel until a full ticket can be purchased (minus the amount already paid)

Friends of the Derwent Valley Line are not happy with either the arrangements at Belper (where we believe the single machine is inadequate in capacity for compulsory ticket purchase) or at Duffield. We have raised our concerns with the Community Rail Partnership for discussions with East Midlands Trains
