The Friends of the Derwent Valley Line
A small party of station adopters from the Derwent Valley Line took part in Northern Rail's Grand Day Out in York, at the kind invitation of Heidi Mottram, MD Northern Rail
The Grand Day Out is an annual event laid on by Northern Rail to thank some of their stakeholders & volunteers who work on their Community Rail lines. Over 500 attended this year, travelling on special trains from Southport, Chester, Chesterfield & Carlisle.
After a buffet lunch at the National Rail Museum in York, Heidi Mottram (right) addressed the guests, followed by a welcome from Museum staff.
Visitors had a chance to see the latest additions to the museum, including newly-restreamlined Duchess of Hamilton, and the attractions of York itself.
Certainly a Grand Day Out - and an idea which could be adopted by East Midlands Trains?
